The Fairfax Companies will attend the event to help inform Tucsonans about recycling Green Landscape Waste, Cardboard, Plastics, Metals, Wood, Styrofoam, and More!
Come out to the El Rio Neighborhood Center on November 14, 2015 and learn more about all the options you have available to you in Tucson to reduce, reuse and recycle!
When: Saturday, November 14, 2015, 10:00 am – 2:00 p.m.
Where: El Rio Neighborhood Center, 1390 W. Speedway Blvd.
Here’s the line-up of activities for the day:
10:00 – 2:00
- Document Shredding
- E-Waste Collection (computers, cables, printers, scanners, fax machines, monitors, cell phones, or anything with a plug. No TVs accepted.)
- Reusables & Clothing (Goodwill will be on hand taking any donations. Even if you think your old clothing is not usable, Goodwill will not send any of it to the landfill).
Mr. Nature’s Music Garden
If you and your little ones have not seen Mr. Nature in action, here’s your chance. Mr. Nature will be entertaining us and helping children create a musical instrument from recycled materials.
Make it and Take it Crafts
It’s easy to create fun crafts from recycled materials. We’ll show you some easy crafts you can create quickly and easily with things you probably have on hand.
We will have local businesses and non-profits on hand to share info about how they are working to promote waste reduction in Tucson. They are great resources for all of us looking to reduce our carbon footprint and divert all our “trash” from the landfill.
11:00 – 12:00 – Compost Demonstration
If you’ve been wanting to set up a backyard compost pile, here’s your opportunity to learn how. Tucson Organic Gardeners will be on hand to give tips on Composting in the Desert. Compost add valuable nutrients to your soil and helps it to retain moisture– a valuable resource here in Tucson.
1:00 – 2:00 – Thrift Store Fashion Show
Goodwill of Southern Arizona will be presenting outfits for everyone pulled together from local thrift shops. For the frugal fashionista!
